2.dan, Instructor

My name is Floriana and I was born in a ‘karate family’. I had no choice to choose any other sport and that was my luck. Both my dad and his brother were training with one of the first Karate instructors at the time Giuseppe Panada in Napoli, Italy in the early 70s. Late in the 80s, my uncle Luigi De Matteo 6th Dan met with sensei Hiroshi Shirai and started the Karate journey of our club Ares, in Foggia, Italy. Since a young age, I trained basic techniques and kata over and over, while during my youth I turned into kumite training, finding my real passion. I enjoy deeply the strategic and tactical work of combat while being under pressure, and aiming for excellence in few minutes of a match.

During my youth and college, I was mostly competing at national and international level where I was awarded my 2nd dan and had the opportunity of training with the national team under the supervision of Mr. Pierluigi Aschieri.

I have always been interested in the focus and the determination Karate is teaching as discipline. While aiming for the powerful elegance of the technique, a charge of energy is released in the movement. That’s the reason why I Iike teaching small children, so that they can feel that energy powering through their body.
