Whether you’re looking for a new hobby for yourself or your child, you’ve come to the right place. This page brings together all the information you need to start training traditional Shotokan Karate at JKS Finland.
Here you’ll find information about our beginner’s courses, when new courses begin, which course is right for you or your child, and how to get started. No previous martial arts experience is required—our beginner’s courses are designed to help you take your very first steps in karate in a welcoming and supportive environment.
JKS Finland organises two beginner’s courses every year.
All beginner’s courses are taught by experienced instructors and provide a structured introduction to traditional Shotokan Karate. Students learn the fundamentals step by step while progressing together with others who are also new to karate.
Adult Beginner’s Course (Ages 13+)
Designed for teenagers and adults who want to begin their karate journey. The course introduces the fundamentals of traditional Shotokan Karate through structured and progressive training.
Children’s Beginner’s Course (Ages 7–12)
Children learn the fundamentals of traditional Shotokan Karate while developing fitness, coordination, concentration and respect in a safe and encouraging environment.
Karate Kids (Ages 5–6)
A fun and engaging introduction to karate through games, movement exercises and age-appropriate activities that develop coordination, confidence and basic karate skills.
You don’t always have to wait for the next beginner’s course.
If you would like to start training during the current season, please contact us first. Depending on your age, previous experience and the current training schedule, it may be possible to join an existing beginner’s group or another suitable class.
Simply send us an email at info@jksfinland.fi, and we’ll be happy to help you find the best way to get started.
We look forward to welcoming you to the JKS Finland dojo!
