Traditional Shotokan Karate Training

Traditional Shotokan Karate is much more than learning individual techniques or improving physical fitness. It is a Japanese martial art (budo) that develops the body, mind and technical skill through consistent, long-term practice.

At JKS Finland, we practise traditional Shotokan Karate following the teachings and technical principles of the Japan Karate Shotorenmei (JKS). Our training emphasizes strong fundamentals, efficient body movement, practical martial arts skills and continuous self-improvement. Every training session is built on these same principles, regardless of the student’s experience or grade.

Our approach is rooted in the traditions of Japanese budo, where techniques are practised with respect for their original purpose and martial application. The goal is not only to develop effective technique, but also to deepen your understanding of karate and continue growing as a martial artist throughout your life.
