More about Ramon

My name is Ramon Baturoni (currently 6th Dan). My journey in Karate started in Mexico City back in 1984 when a 12-year-old kid with artistic inclinations rather than athletic ones saw a poster advertising Karate lessons, which caught his attention. From the first class, I found joy and interest in this art. It was challenging, fun to do and learn, and I met a lot of other kids, making lifelong friends with whom I still share memories today. Every technique I learned, every stance, punch, block, or kick amazed me.

Forty years later, I still find the same, if not more, joy in the daily practice of this art. I like the idea of growing with it; as my life changes, Karate does too, and I find that fantastic! During my 20s and 30s, I had the opportunity to represent Mexico as a National Team Member, which gave me the chance to compete in nine World Championships, Panamerican Championships, and attend all sorts of seminars with great Senseis and mentors such as Sensei Okazaki (RIP), Sensei Enoeda (RIP), Sensei Naka, and many others, including my Sensei Rogelio Flores in Mexico.

I have had the honor of being the Technical Director of the WKS (World Karate Shotokan) since 2021. I came to Finland for a work opportunity and found JKS Finland to be a friendly place where people love Karate and want to share it with others coming from very different places. I’ve always thought that Karate is something to be shared with friends, and I found the perfect place for this.
